Playing Around With Different Styles

I am at this wonderful stage right now in my journey as an illustrator where I'm trying to figure what my style is.  It's a bit overwhelming at times because the possibilities are never ending, but trying new styles I discovering ones that actually work for me can be so exhilarating!  When my Aunt Linda asked me to illustrate her picture book "Lucy and Her Friends" I knew that it called for water colors, but even in that genre there are so many different styles to use!  So I decided to play around with a couple different ones to see which I liked best.  These two were my favorite results.

This first one I did with watercolors and then went over a second time with colored pencils and a sharpie.

The second is done with watercolors and sharpies.

The consensus from my Facebook friends is that the second one is better.  What do you all think?
